I Love Memphis

Memphis is a city of great potential; perhaps that's why I identify with it so easily. In a lot of ways we are the same. There are great iconic parts of Memphis like Beale Street, FedEx, and Elvis Presley, but there are grim parts also like the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr, blight, and health disparities. However the city is fervently trying to reconcile its paradoxes, its good and bad parts for a better city. A lot like me. So I dedicated this post to a phrase that many know as the slogan of Memphis: "grit n grind".

There's a beautiful mural by artist Brandon Marshall  (awesome blog post by Choose 901)  called "Grind 'Til You Shine". I fell in love with its energy, how it makes you feel about Memphis. Therefore I kept my outfit simple to let the mural shine.

I love maxi dresses. They're an easy way to have a full outfit without a lot of effort. I threw on some simple strappy sandals, a floral statement necklace, and some accent purple earrings because I can't go without some color. The purse in this post was the only one I had in the car and suprisingly, it worked perfectly! The snakeskin added an element of texture and edge, which was subtle enough to refine the whole look. I hope you stop by the mural it's a great place to show off your Grizz pride and your love of Memphis while being artsy!

peace and a whole 'lotta love,
