How to Wear: Statement Fur Coat

fall-fur-6.jpg

Tis' the season for some furs....finally. Since I'm in the South I typically get to stare at my fur coats for most of the year until it gets cold enough for me to wear them (a couple of weeks before its summer in February). Fur coats are hard to dress down; at least this time I wouldn't do it (think cow print, snakeskin, and leather). Therefore you have to own it and wear them, no matter how many looks you get from people surprised that you're actually wearing a fur coat as if it were a casual NorthFace. I've had this fur coat for two years now and never felt confident enough to wear it, but this year I've really embraced my eclectic closet and went for it.....and dressed it down. The fur is what I hoped would capture attention, not my boots, or my simple pastel pink sweater, just the coat. I can't lie and say there aren't moments where I felt like Joanne the Scammer or Beyonce as I romped around Overton Park. Everyone deserves those moments. Ultimately I felt like me; a kid, but a glamorous, quirky one and that was totally fine with me.
